Sonoma Valley Hospital (SVH) is a 75-bed full-service acute care district hospital with an outstanding staff of health care professionals located in the City of Sonoma, serving a community of 42,000. We are a warm, comfortable, familial place of healing, known for our compassionate and professional staff and for our dedication to the needs and expectations of our community. Our services encompass the whole spectrum of health care needs, and medical treatment extends to all but the most specialized issues.
We are the third largest employer in the Sonoma Valley with approximately 450 employees. SVH reported a total payroll of $26 million in fiscal 2014, and operating revenues of $51 million, a 10 percent increase from 2011. The Hospital has spent $46 million in extensive facility upgrades and modernization in recent years, including construction of a state-of-the-art Emergency Department and Surgery Center which opened in 2014.
Today, we score high in most measures of service quality and consistently rank in the top 50 percent of hospitals nationally for patient satisfaction, frequently placing in the top quartile. SVH was named one of the 15 safest hospitals in the country by Consumer Reports in 2014, and also received an “A” rating for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group, a national, nonprofit organization which rates how well hospitals protect patients from errors, injuries and infections.
SVH ranks among the top 10 percent of hospitals nationally in terms of employee satisfaction and engagement, according to the 2015 Employee Partnership Survey. Compared with nearly 900 hospital facilities nationwide with approximately 400,000 employees, Sonoma Valley Hospital is ranked in the 91st percentile. According to California law, employees of the Hospital District are at-will and hold their positions at the pleasure of the Hospital Chief Executive Officer, to whom the Board of Directors has delegated the power to employ and discharge.
