 
The Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation is the hospital’s
chief fundraising arm. It sponsors or assists in a variety of high-profile
fundraising events throughout the year. All its efforts are directed
to help purchase needed high-tech equipment that makes SVH an extraordinarily
well-equipped small hospital.
The Foundation has raised nearly $2
million since is founding in 1982, helping to fund state-of-the-art
equipment purchases
that include a CT scanner, ultrasound unit, bone densitometer,
Emergency Department central monitoring system, mammography
unit, and doppler echocardiograph. For volunteer opportunities,

Ways of Giving to the Foundation
There are many
ways of giving to the Foundation that can accommodate your
tax planning and estate situation. All contributions to
the Foundation are tax deductible to the extent allowed by
law.
Cash Contributions - A gift of cash may be the
simplest and most convenient way to make a contribution. Whether
as a memorial
for a dear friend, in honor of a person or event, or in support
of a Foundation project to purchase equipment or facilities,
your gift will be gratefully received.
Real Estate - A gift
of real estate that has grown in value since you purchased
it provides the same tax advantage as cash
and possibly more. As an example, you may give a remainder
interest in your residence to the Foundation while retaining
the right
to live there for your lifetime. You receive an income tax
deduction in the year the deed is executed and eliminate any
gift tax or
estate tax on the property.
Bequests - In your will a bequest
to the Foundation can provide very important support to the
Hospital while reducing or even
eliminating estate tax liability. You can grant the Foundation
a specific amount of cash, a readily marketable property, or
name the Foundation as a residuary beneficiary of your estate.
Several types of charitable trusts may also be created by your
will.
