Sonoma Valley Hospital

Our Quality Standards

A COMMITMENT TO HIGH QUALITY PATIENT CARE

CIHQ-sealAt Sonoma Valley Hospital, we take great pride in the care we provide. Our staff and physicians are deeply committed to the health and wellbeing of our community. Year after year, our team provides high quality patient care that meets and frequently exceeds national benchmarks.

We continually focus on how we can provide a safer environment through our “Culture of Safety” Program that continuously works to improve services and procedures.  Sonoma Valley Hospital has received national recognition for its excellent safety practices. In May 2014, Consumer Reports ranked us among the 15 safest hospitals in the country, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ranks us among the top 20 percent of hospitals nationally for quality.

Last year we became the first hospital in the North Bay to acquire the Xenex Germ-Zapping Robot. This state-of-the-art disinfection device enhances patient safety through an environmentally friendly technology that uses pulsed xenon ultraviolet light (UV) to quickly destroy bacteria, viruses, mold and other pathogens in patient areas throughout the hospital.

We actively seek out new medical and surgical best practices to ensure that community members have state-of-the-art care and the best outcomes possible. We recently opened a new Emergency Department and Surgery Wing that are among the most modern in the North Bay.

We are pleased to share our nationally benchmarked quality outcomes which demonstrate the effectiveness of the care we provide and explain why our patient satisfaction is very high.

HOW WE MEASURE OUR QUALITY

When hospitals measure quality, it is usually in reference to very specific clinical data collected and analyzed over a period of time. Sonoma Valley Hospital is required to meet the same standards of safety and staff credentialing as larger hospitals. By demonstrating compliance with the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ)’s national standards for health care quality and safety, Sonoma Valley Hospital has earned the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality’s “Accredited Hospital” approval.

We are proud to participate in the national quality measures that have been proven to save lives and ensure better quality of care. You can see our results at Hospital Compare.

Changes in regulations may require us to update our Notice of Health Information Privacy Practices. We reserve the right to change this notice.

We also adhere to the highest standards in terms of patient privacy and rights. Find out more about our Privacy Practices and the Patient Bill of Rights.

CIHQ Accreditation Process

The Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ) is an independent, not-for-profit national body that oversees the safety and quality of health care and other services provided in accredited organizations.

Through periodic surveys, CIHQ evaluates the organization’s compliance with nationally established CIHQ standards. The information obtained during the survey process helps organizations improve their services. The information may also assist in educating consumers and other health care recipients to make informed decisions regarding their health care. The survey results will be used to determine the conditions under which accreditation should be awarded the organization.

CIHQ standards deal with organizational quality of care issues and the safety of the environment in which care is provided.

Anyone believing that he or she has pertinent and valid information about such matters may contact CIHQ.

Information about accredited organizations may be provided directly to CIHQ at 1-866-324-5080; by Fax to 805-934-8588; or by E-mail to complaint@cihq.org   An in-person appointment can be scheduled by contacting the Executive Director of CIHQ at 1-866-324-5080 for instructions.
