We continually focus on how we can provide a safer environment through our “Culture of Safety” Program that continuously works to improve services and procedures. Sonoma Valley Hospital has received national recognition for its excellent safety practices. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has given us 4 stars which ranks us among the top 25 percent of hospitals nationally for quality.
We actively seek out new medical and surgical best practices to ensure that community members have state-of-the-art care and the best outcomes possible. We have an Emergency Department and Surgery Center that are among the most modern in the North Bay.

HOW WE MEASURE OUR QUALITY
When hospitals measure quality, it is usually in reference to very specific clinical data collected and analyzed over a period of time. Sonoma Valley Hospital is required to meet the same standards of safety and staff credentialing as larger hospitals. By demonstrating compliance with the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ)’s national standards for health care quality and safety, Sonoma Valley Hospital has earned the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality’s “Accredited Hospital” approval.

HOSPITAL QUALITY TRANSPARENCY DASHBOARD
Sonoma Valley Hospital joins with other California hospitals and The California Hospital Association and the Hospital Quality Institute in providing the public with easily accessible, meaningful information about hospital quality and safety, as part of the Hospital Quality Transparency Dashboard program. SAFE PATIENT CARE AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
Reporting Patient Safety Concerns and Complaint Process:
Sonoma Valley Hospital is accredited by the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ) and encourages anyone to share their concerns with the staff providing your care, the immediate person in charge, or the Department Manager to ensure that your concerns are addressed and resolved.
CIHQ Accreditation Process
The Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ) is an independent, not-for-profit national body that oversees the safety and quality of healthcare and other services provided in accredited organizations.
Through periodic surveys, CIHQ evaluates the organization’s compliance with nationally established CIHQ standards. The information obtained during the survey process helps organizations improve their services. The information may also assist in educating consumers and other healthcare recipients to make informed decisions regarding their healthcare. The survey results are used to determine the conditions under which accreditation is awarded the organization.
CIHQ standards deal with organizational quality of care issues and the safety of the environment in which care is provided.
