Pneumonia Care - How Do We Compare?
At Sonoma Valley Hospital, we strive to provide the best care possible. To monitor the quality of our care, we track quality “core” measures as required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, and compare them to national benchmarks.
Blood Culture within 24 hours before or after arrival-ICU
This measure shows if a blood culture was obtained in a timely fashion for patients admitted to ICU. Drawing a blood culture before treatment is recommended because more useful information is obtained if the culture is collected before antibiotics are administered.
Antibiotic selection for Community Acquired Pneumonia in an Immunocompetent Patient
This is the measure that shows the percentage of community acquired pneumonia patients, with healthy immune systems, who were given appropriate antibiotics within 24 hours of their hospital admission. Data indicate that appropriate antibiotic administration within 24 hours of admission is very effective in treating community acquired pneumonia.
